What is an API?
According to the FDA, an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is “any substance or mixture of substances intended to be used in the manufacture of a drug product and that, when used in the production of a drug, becomes an active ingredient in the drug product.”
The APIIC and its members are working to achieve its goals through these four key pillars:
Fostering collaboration among a network of companies, academic and research institutions, and startups spanning the API advanced manufacturing supply chain.
Enable the commercialization of advanced manufacturing technologies in cGMP facilities to produce essential and critical medicines in shortage within 24 months.
Develop solutions for shared emergent challenges that leads to new technologies and methods.
Creates a diverse talent pipeline by partnering with local educational and apprenticeship programs that focus on technical education.
